From the Rooster:
As the Wackers 3 had a BYE, Boom Boom Brett invited the Rooster to fill in for a missing partner (Paul) in the 10am A2 Wackers 4. Never to miss an opportunity, the Rooster jumped at the chance, throwing caution the wind.
Matraville 3 were a couple guys in their late teens, looking quite strong in the warm-up. The Rooster knew he will have to rely heavily on Boom Boom's backup, but in the opening doubles, it quickly became evident, that both youngsters preferred low drives with a bit of pace on it. The Rooster realised this was a little dangerous and somewhat strange territory, so came a string of lobs, drop-shots and slices that seem to frustrate the youngsters. So, perhaps not so pretty, but a 6-2 win was a win.
On the exit side of a bug, Boom Boom struggled to get into gear while a few coughs and splutters did not impede him to a 6-3 cruisy win in his singles, with a graceful display of the Boom Boom trade-mark precision shots and un-returnable serves.
What was going to be a nervous start due to the weight-on-shoulder responsibility for the Rooster, the surprising lack of stiff opposition allowed for the continued frustration to hamper the opposition for a rather quick 6-2 win.
The final doubles was by no means a procession - the wheels wobbled after a Wacker 4-0 lead, saw the Matravilles catch up to 4-4. However solid volleying by Boom Boom sealed the lid on the day with a 6-4 victory.
Not sure who was surprised/ please more, but the job was done - Go the Wackers !
Regards, Rosti.

Great effort Rosti... I was about to log in here and sing your praises but you beat me to the punch!
Seriously though, Rosti stood tall today and played as well as i've seen him. He was extremely solid and made the oponents have to come up with winners and big shots which they couldn't do. Not once did he go for a streaky or big shot so the pressure on the oponents finally broke them and we were able to run away with a very good victory.
Cheers mate and great effort BBB
