Dear fellow Wackers,
Time flies and already over one year passed since the former most improved Wacker Octoberfest alongside his well dressed Wacker wife Larissa and his Wacker daughter Katharina left Sydney for good to start a new chapter in their diplomatic rotation life in Berlin. Well, you always - at least that is my perception - need one year to get adapted to a new place, especially when you have not the support of a local Wacker organisation. Unfortunately I couldn't conserve the good play I was showing at my last Wackerthon and all my efforts to set up a Berlin section of the Wackers failed due to a total different tennis infrastructure here in Berlin. All tennis players here are organised in clubs which have different teams (junior, senior, seniors over 30/40 etc.) playing in different leagues. I didn't join a team yet and one cannot organise something Wacker-like due to the lack of free courts in the evening hours. So I certainly miss the Wednesday Wackerthons here in Germany. But anyway I'm glad to hear that this week you will play the 2nd Octoberfest Cup at Latham Park. As I cannot be with you in Sydney I decided to visit the original Oktoberfest in Munich which not only was great fun but a true challenge: imagine yourself dancing on a beer bench in a overcrowded tent with about 5000 mad people, drinking as much Maß (one litre of tasty Oktoberfest beer) as possible. So I wish you at least as much fun at the 2nd Octoberfest Cup as I had at the Oktoberfest in Munich!
Cheers! Octoberfest

Guten Tag Herr Uli,
Wonderful to hear from you our patron saint of the Octoberfest Cup and our first Wacker Hall of fame inductee.
You will be with us in spirit as we play out the Octoberfest Cup tomorrow night and as we raise our glasses in your honour during the after party.
If you cant find a Wacker home in Berlin, our door is always open my friend,
Regards to Larrisa and Katherina.

Guten Tag Herr Uli,
Plant a seed and the tree will grow... Just join the organised tennis fraternity but be the one who relaxes courtside with a cold beverage! I am certain that you will be joined very quickly by some like minded wackers-at-heart. Regards

Good to hear from you, Dr Ok, over in rainy, cold Berlin. We played in dreadful conditions but the long-awaited merriment made up for it. I am sorry that my elbow plagued me due to some heavy birch branch wacking and I could barely raise my beer glass, let alone do justice to the Swiss cheese, my partner. I made up for it with a traditional outfit, but there was alas no costume award. We missed you. Your old boss was a big let-down, Mr No show Grubber. He is being sanctioned in Kim Jong Il style and we are building a Berlin wall around the Latham park side of the consulate. Mind you, your successor, Yara, has certain qualities and an even better smile than you. My regards to you, Ulli and the little Oktoberfests. The Ball Toss
